  • Although I tried to cover every major topic that sober cruisers might be interested in, I belatedly realized that I completely forgot one of the most important questions: Are there any non-alcoholic drinks for summer on the ship? The short answer is that there were plenty of options. The exact choices vary from one cruise line to the next, and maybe even a little from one ship to the next. I’m going to share what I saw on my ship, the Carnival Sunshine, but it will hopefully give you at least a basic idea of what to expect on other cruise ships too.Free DrinksThe ship I was on didn’t have the most extensive selection of free drinks, but it was still enough for me. In the buffet area of the ship, there were dispensers for:
  • Water
  • Tea
  • Lemonade
  • Coffee (Regular and Decaf)
  • Hot Chocolate
  • These drinks were all available, for free, 24/7. In addition, during breakfast hours, they served a variety of juices including apple and orange. I read that they also had free milk available, but I didn’t ever notice it.The quality of these free drinks can be summed up as “decent.” The water was good and the coffee was surprisingly solid, but the lemonade and tea were lackluster and the hot chocolate sucked.I drank mostly water, coffee, and Arnold Palmers throughout the trip. It’s also worth mentioning that the tap water on the ship is completely safe to drink, and that’s what I typically went for while in the stateroom (they provide a couple of clean glasses each day).
